Install Debian 10 CLI on Virtual Box

Hello people.

This is my first blog. I hope I could make this better translate. I’m still working on my own. Oke, skip for that. I’m informatics. Since I was in 11th grade and during this pandemic, I got so many tasks in my school. So many tasks were documented. I have to take them out of my laptop storage to share around the world. Hope that it may help you.

Here, I want to share quick tips for installing Debian 10 CLI on VirtualBox. Seems easy right! Ok, let’s get into it.

The first thing that you have to install VirtualBox on your desktop. This link will get you to download page of virtual box. https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

Download Debian 10 CLI iso file. Get tutorial here

After installing virtualbox, follow my step bellow.

1. Create new virtual machine.

Click the “new” one.

Then give a name, mine is debian 10(then i rename it as deb 10 for some reasons). Choose your machine folder, set memory and hard disk as up above.

2. Next step showing up like this

Just click create if you don’t have an additional options.

Then run your VM with start button

3. Select start-up disk

Select iso file that you’ve just download

Debian Installer menu

Choose Graphic install, just enter

Select your language, location, locale configuration and keymap. I’ll speed up this option since it’s up to you, it will matter when configuring clock zone. So make sure that you are entering the right choice that suits on you right now.

Just enter the above steps if you don’t have any additional options. Enter some steps untill you get this interface

Enter Hostname Debian

Enter hostname for your system. This will appear in your terminal shell as user@hostname

Enter domain name

Enter your domain name, mine is empty. I’ll set it up later when i configuring my DNS

Enter password and re-enter it

Setting your root password

Set up users and password

I gave my full name and username the same, humai (my name). This is optional. You can enter this with your name

Give your user’s password

Configure the clock

As i said, this configuration will be related of the previous’. I’m in Indonesia, so i select my clock zone in eastern.

Partition disks

We are using guided — use entire disk for guide us through partitioning disk

Select your disk partition, mine is up above

Just select all files

Choose finish and continue

Then choose yes

Configuring the package manager

Choose no

wait for a sec…

Configuring popularity-contest

choose no

Software selection

Click the standard system utilites

Install the GRUB boot loader on a hard disk

choose yes

Choose the available device

Finish the installation!

Your installation is complete!

Now login as root with root password that we have just set
